On-Course Survival Kit/Checklist
The following is your survival kit when it hits the fan on the course. Regularly review the checklist and pick your top 3-4 to putt on a 3 x 5 card to take to the course for that day. I recommend putting this kit into a voice memo to help you memorize the line items.
- Where is the target; what is the ball flight to the target
- Freedom of swing in the correct direction
- No hurry, no worry, no fear
- Focus on the process and the outcome takes care of itself
- Plan conservatively, swing assertively
- Identify the trouble, then re-center yourself on the target
- Commit to the shot and trust it
- Pre-shot routine readies your body and mind
- Relax the body by unhinging the jaw and maybe a swimmer’s shake-out
- Deep breathing and tension are mutually exclusive
- 372 million less 1 people in the country do not care about your shot
- Post-shot routine allows you to reflect, learn, and restore confidence
- IIWII – It Is What It Is. Any else is just baggage causing mental clutter
- WWPD- What Would Pernice Do?
- Each shot, each moment is a new start
- Nothing can distract me!
